Is it merely the absence of symptoms?  Is it not having a cold?   Chiropractors think health is something more than not being sick.  The following is a definition of health that is on the right track:

World Health Organization: “Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.”

In other words, health is a balance that allows the body to function at its best.   

More than likely, you came to us because some pain or symptoms caught your attention.  You also may be frustrated with simply covering up symptoms with drugs and not actually fixing the problem.  The first step is to help with those and alleviate them as best we can.  During this time, you may need more frequent visits because the problem has most likely been present for a long time before you felt the pain.  As you move along in your treatment plan, you will need less frequent visits.

Chiropractic is based upon the understanding that good health depends, in part, upon a normally functioning nervous system.  Your spinal column consists of 24 movable bones called vertebrae.  The spinal cord is housed inside of the spinal column and it branches off into nerves, which exit through holes in the spine and send impulses from the brain to every part of your body.  When the spine is functioning correctly and in proper alignment, the nerve impulses travel normally to the intended part of the body.  But when the spine is not functioning correctly (vertebrae are out of alignment) the nerves become irritated and normal impulses are impeded.  This may cause pain or any other symptoms.  Chiropractors evaluate the spine and correct any mis-alignments so that the nerve impulses can travel freely.
